Archive : a repository collection, or place where historical records, documents, or digital data are stored for long-term preservation. The mission of this archive is to preserve the history of vintage clothing from my collection. As an avid collector of all sorts of vintage clothing articles, I would like to present an archive of pieces I own/have owned. Fashion is not only important part of human identity, but as society and the way of life as well. Fashion allows individuality and the freedom of expression on a day-to-day basis. What you were is effectively what you present yourself as. A man wearing a suit is seen as a "professional" in the modern world. Someone wearing a leather jacket with 12-hole boots can be seen as someone in the punk movement, so on and so forth. What is such a simple idea on the surface turns into an entire sector of study when you consider everything fashion is. We can study past human psychology, social dynamics, and even individual express of the era all through fashion. With all this being said, you can easily see why fashion is an important thing to archive. I will strive my best to keep my archive recent and explain each piece and its historical context. From military pieces spanning a century, to old Levi jeans, to band shirts and politcal shirts, my mission is to present an unbiased, accurate account of what each piece is and what it means. By no means am I an expert so take everything I saw with a grain of salt, but I will try my best to remain inpartial to facts that are important. I am in no way getting payed to do this. I actually have no incentive at all. I just believe it will be an interesting project to work on for the purpose of archiving my collection so I can access it at any time.
